Thanksgiving offers plenty of options for dining out

Families who choose to observe a Thanksgiving Day tradition of not doing dishes have plenty of options this year.

Many local restaurants — from fine dining establishments to inexpensive family buffets — will be open on Thanksgiving Day and serving traditional foods.

Diners also have a new option this year: Newport Grill, the year-old seafood restaurant on Rock Road, is joining the Thanksgiving fray and serving plated meals with a choice of roasted turkey, beef tenderloin or grilled salmon.

Following is a guide to Thanksgiving Day dining in Wichita:

Bishops Family Dining, 4200 W. Kellogg, 316-943-0393. Buffet is $10.99 for adults, $10.49 for seniors, $4.59 for ages 3-10, free for ages 2 and under. Drinks included. Served from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. No reservations.

Cinnabar Cafe, inside the Marriott at 9100 Corporate Hills Dr., 316-651-0333. Buffet is $21.95 for adults, $18.95 for seniors, $9.95 for ages 6-12, free for ages 5 and under. Seatings every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Reservations recommended.

Corporate Caterers, buffets served at Comotara Banquet Hall at 2949 N. Rock Road and Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview, 400 W. Douglas. Call 316-264-9167 for reservations at either location. Buffet is $19.99 for adults, $14.99 for seniors, $8.99 for children ages 5-12; free for ages 4 and under. Served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations recommended.

Furr’s Family Dining, 1606 S. Georgetown, 316-618-9850. Buffet is $10.49 for adults, $10.09 for seniors, $4.69 for ages 8-10, $3.99 for ages 3-7, free for ages 2 and under. Drinks included. Served from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. No reservations.

Golden Corral, 616 S. Ridge Road Circle, 316-945-5100, and 11006 E. Kellogg, 316-686-0669. Buffet is $11.99 for adults, $11.39 for seniors, $6.99 for ages 11-12, $5.99 for ages 7-10, $4.99 for ages 4-6, and free for ages 3 and under. Served from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. No reservations.

Hyatt Regency, 400 W. Waterman, 316-613-6222. Buffet served in the River Ballroom is $24 for adults, $12 for children 5-12, free for children 4 and under. Seating times at 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Reservations recommended.

Hereford House, 1400 Terradyne Dr., Andover, 316-733-7800. Buffet is $22.95 for adults, $9.95 children 5 to 11, free for ages 4 and under. Seatings at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Reservations recommended.

Spear’s Restaurant and Pie Shop, 4323 W. Maple, 316-943-2783. Buffet (with pie included) is $12.49 for adults, $6.25 for ages 6-10, free for ages 5 and under with a paying adult. Served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Walk-ins welcome.

Ya Ya’s Eurobistro, 8115 E. 21st, 316-634-1000. Buffet is $25 for adults, $12 for ages 6-11, free for ages 5 and under. Served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations recommended.

Non-buffet options

Newport Grill, 1900 N. Rock Road, 316-636-9555. Serving plated dinners featuring choice of entree, plus soup, salad, sides and dessert. Dinners are $25 for adults, $9 for ages 6-10, $3 for ages 5 and under. Served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reservations recommended.

Stroud’s, 3661 N. Hillside, 316-838-2454. Diners can choose from roast turkey or country ham, both served with traditional sides. Dinners are $18.95, $8.95 for ages 10 and under. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Reservations recommended.
