The new barbecue restaurant opened Thursday at 7011 W. Central (316-295-2150). Owned by father and son team Ronnie and Brian Choy and their wives, Collette and Kendra, the restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. 1. The ribs: When Pigs Fly is particularly proud of its ribs, made by rib master Brian Choy and sold (with sauce and bread) by the slab, half slab or order of four.
2. The spuds: The restaurant serves four varieties of barbecue-topped baked potatoes, including The Atomic Spud, topped with cheese, hot links and spicy barbecue sauce.
3. The rest: When Pigs Fly also serves chicken, barbecue sandwiches, combo dinners with items such as brisket, turkey and pulled pork, side items and family packs. It also caters.

Opening, closing, moving
Three bits of restaurant news you can use: The once-closed Chili's at Regency Lakes at 21st and Greenwich reopened on Monday with a remodeled dining room and curbside to-go service. Top China buffet, which replaced Monterrey Mexican Grill at 3320 N. Rock Road earlier this year, has just closed. And Maharaja , the Indian restaurant at 3008 W. Central, is looking to move. Owner Raj Singh wants to take it to the east side but will operate out of his current location through February, when his lease is up.
To celebrate the scariness of the season, Krispy Kreme is serving four devilish doughnuts, including a pumpkin-shaped Jack-o-Lantern doughnut, a pumpkin spice doughnut, a chocolate-iced doughnut with Halloween sprinkles and a spiderweb doughnut. The treats are available through Oct. 31, though the pumpkin spice doughnut will stay through Nov. 28.
Free State Tasting
The Anchor at 1109 E. Douglas will put on a Free State Brewing Company tasting session on Saturday, featuring 12 of the popular Lawrence brewery's craft beers, including Old Backus Barleywine and Thomas Paine Porter. The Anchor carries three Free State Beers on tap, but Saturday's choices will include some rare brews. Starting on Monday, four of Free State's beers will be available by the bottle in Wichita liquor stores.
