Livingston's: The Livingston family opened Livingston's Cafe in downtown Wichita in 1910. Descendants still run Livingston's Cafe at 924 S. Woodlawn, Livingston's at 832 N. Webb Road and Jeanne's Cafe at 4733 E. Douglas.
NuWay: The first NuWay, home of the crumbly but good burger, was opened in 1930 at 1416 W. Douglas,
Old Mill Tasty Shop: The restaurant at 604 E. Douglas opened as a soda fountain in 1932.
Doc's Steak House: The restaurant at 1515 N. Broadway that's home to the famous garlic salad has been serving Wichitans since 1952.

Dog-N-Shake: Neal's Burger Bar, which would become Dog-N-Shake, opened on South Seneca in 1954.
Restaurateur Mike Issa, who most recently owned Italian Garden, is planning to open a Hereford House restaurant at Terrydyne country Club, in the spot where Palomino Grill has been operating. Hereford House is a popular steak house in Kansas City. It should open the first week of December and will be open to the public. Also, Cinnamon's Deli will open a restaurant in the same strip mall at 29th and Maize that also will have Five Guys Burgers and Fries . Both should open early next year.
The WSU Ceramics Guild will have its annual Chili Bowl Sale from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Kirby's Beer Store , 3227 E. 17th St. For $10, attendees get a handmade bowl and all the chili they can eat. The group will prepare six different kinds of chili, and the proceeds will benefit the YWCA Women's Crisis Center.

La Mesa Mexican Grill at 6960 W. 21st St. has closed, a victim of the economy and a new competitor down the street, Senor Tequila, which recently opened at 8760 W 21st St.
