Ghosts and scantily clad goblins will be out in force in local bars this weekend, and several venues are putting on parties where costumes are encouraged. Among them:
* The Pumphouse at 825 E. Second St. will start its Halloween celebration at 8 p.m. Saturday. It'll offer drink specials including $3 blood shots and $2 Miller Lite bottles, and DJ Gum-B from Kansas City will spin tunes and award best costume prizes.
* The Shamrock Lounge, 1724 W. Douglas, will start its party at 10 p.m. Saturday with live music from the band Arbogast and opening act John Gamache. Admission is $2 or free for those in costume.
* Walt's East, 7732 E. Central, will start its party at 9 p.m. Saturday with drink specials, prizes, games, a deejay and a costume contest with gift certificate prizes for men and women.
Halloween weekend will be a busy one at the Cotillion. On Saturday, country crooners the Eli Young Band will perform at 8 p.m. And on Sunday, Tech N9ne's Independent Grind Tour will feature rap and hip-hop stars Jay Rock, Glasses Malone and Strange Music's Krizz Kaliko, Kutt Calhoun and Big Scoob. The music begins at 7 p.m. Eli Young Band tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door. Tech N9ne's are $25 in advance, $28 at the door.
