A concert on Saturday at the Shamrock , 1724 W. Douglas, is a fundraiser for Carol Horton, wife of RKO Blues guitarist Mike Horton, who has been battling liver cancer for two years. RKO Blues will perform along with the Mike Horton Band, Jimmie Lewin & The Kingtones, the Jukes with Dan Monnat, Clif and Kathy, the Mead Street Blues Band, Fly By Night and more. The event will include auction items and barbecue prepared by the Shamrock. The Horseshoe Hoedown is a benefit fundraiser for the Flint Hills Therapeutic Riding center, an organization that provides hippotherapy — physical therapy on horseback. It's from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday at Murfin Stables, 143rd Street East and 13th Street. The event will include dinner from Hog Wild Pit BBQ, drinks, dancing, silent and live auctions and music by the Joe Worrel Band. Tickets are $40 apiece or $350 for a table of 10.
