Feels Gooding to be home
Wichita-bred rock star Gooding has had a few gigs around town this summer and has another one scheduled for this weekend, when he'll play at Rock Island Live, 150 N. Rock Island. Gooding will play tonight and Saturday, and admission is $10. The show's open to people age 18 and over. The band also will appear at Borders at 1715 N. Rock Road from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Blues musician Johnny Neal is having a CD release party tonight at Rock Island Studios, 338 N. Mead. Neal is a Kansas Hall of Fame bluesman who performs in three different bands. Admission is free, and the show starts at 7 p.m.
Fellow musicians are staging a benefit Saturday for Mike "Dixie" Selter, who is facing big medical bills from treatment for lead poisoning. It will be held from 3 to 11 p.m. at the Shamrock Lounge, 1724 W. Douglas. Performers include Mark Horton, Paul Rodriguez, Robin Roberts, Randy Neil and Selter's band, Hipbilly. Admission is free. Proceeds from the sale of $1 Jell-O shots and $5 food plates will go to Selter.
