Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.
The extra help she received from Share the Season in paying her utilities bills came just at the right time, the 31-year-old woman said.
She was out of work for two weeks with strep throat and a tonsil infection, and this led to her falling behind in her payments.
“When you miss two weeks, that’s money lost; you can’t make it up,” she said. “It was truly a blessing. It came right at the right time.”
Never miss a local story.
The woman said the money will help ensure that the family doesn’t have to stress about making monthly payments.
“We enjoy Christmas, but most of our memories are made on Christmas Eve,” she said. “We play games, bake, eat – it makes sure we get to spend some time with the kids.”
She said she, her husband and four young children will finally be able to relax a little this holiday.
“It can help us focus on other things,” she said. “It definitely lightened the load.”
So far, Share the Season has raised $183,158.56.
