Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.
This woman has worked multiple jobs.
But she lost her main job as a caregiver in August when the man she was helping died. She was left with two low-paying jobs, working part time as a secretary and cleaning houses.
Financial trouble hit hard in September.
Never miss a local story.
“In September my basement flooded, my car broke down, my air conditioner quit and my lawnmower broke,” the woman wrote to Share the Season. “I did have a little put away to help cover most of my expenses, however, I have depleted all my savings. I am not currently behind on any of my bills, but I will be this month. I would just like to be able to make it through the next couple of months while I try and find a steady income.”
The bills are piling up — two months of a relatively small house payment, two months of utilities and property taxes — so much so that the next two months look bleak.
“End result, if I don’t figure out something, I probably lose the house I’ve had for 24 years,” the woman said.
So far, Share the Season has raised more than $57,000.
