Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.
The single mother of three girls had simply run out of resources.
She’s working a part-time job and trying to find another as soon as possible, but it’s not easy when her daughters are all under the age of 7.
Her goal is to be home each night to tuck them into bed.
Their father is out of work and has fallen behind in child support payments.
“I could not get ahead on the bills,” the 31-year-old mother told The Eagle. “I’ve been doing my best to make ends meet but I have been robbing Peter to pay Paul.”
Share the Season helped get her caught up on utility bills.
Because she had fallen so far behind, she prayed every night after work that she could pick up her girls, fix dinner and give baths without having the water shut off.
She is hoping now she can find a part-time job on the weekends to help support her family.
“Share the Season would make a difference in our life by allowing me to get ahead on our bills,” the mother wrote on her application. “It would also allow me to focus on caring for my children without the financial burden of trying to find a means to pay for our utilities before they are shut off, and be able to focus on providing Christmas for my children.”
So far, Share the Season has raised $172,413.
