The Army sergeant says his life spiraled downward this past year.
“Last year, around Christmas we were evicted,” the 53-year-old sergeant said. “They sold the property underneath us and we went from being military housing to privatized property.”
And then, the Army moved him from New York to Kansas.
The man said he acquired debts in moving and is still trying to pay for his out-of-pocket expenses.
In moving, he accepted a pay cut.
Some of his family stayed in New York, and some moved with him.
“I am paying out two households. That is how I got into debt,” he said.
Share the Season is helping the family catch up on past bills.
“It is a big relief. That’s a couple bills less I have to worry about,” he said. “It alleviates the pressure.”
