Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.

This 38-year-old mother, grandmother and wife said she’s always been a generous person and willing to help.

Now, she needs some help after unexpected medical bills.

Last spring, she began having severe pain in one hand. What was first diagnosed as severe arthritis turned out to be a blood clot in her upper arm.

“My family was devastated,” she wrote in her application. “I’ve always been such a strong woman. This diagnosis really took a toll on me.”

She received treatment but was unable to work for a while at a Wichita aircraft plant. Her husband was also out of work much of that time. Bills piled up.

The couple’s 18-year-old daughter and year-old grandson also live with them. The daughter also works.

So far, Share the Season has raised $106,325.
