This single mother lost her job in May, and fell behind on her bills.
She has since gotten a job as a para-educator for the Wichita school district, and she is working to catch up.
She said helping children on the job is one of the most rewarding pastimes.
“It’s a really good feeling to know that you’re helping someone, even if it’s something as simple as addition or showing them a trick for how to remember something.”
Although she teaches many lessons at school, she said the most important lessons are the ones taught at home. She believes good communication is key to success and hopes to teach that to her daughter.
She is currently attending college, scheduled to graduate in two years. She hopes to provide a better life for her child.
“I know it’s important for my child to see me returning to school and working a job,” she said. “I am putting more effort into living a positive life; I know I’ll eventually get some positive results.”
She is asking Share the Season for assistance with paying off her bills, so she can provide a Christmas for her daughter.
“I hope to have a peaceful Christmas where we can sit with hot apple cider and look to the future,” she said. “The future’s going to be great because we’re going to make it great.”
