THREE WAYS TO EAT FREE IN JUNE

Several restaurants are planning give-aways this month. Among them:

1. Free burger at Shorty Small's, 12112 Maple: The restaurant is offering one free burger per table through June 10. Dine-in customers must say the phrase "Give me the burger, baby," and they'll be invited to choose from a list of various full-sized burgers, served with fries. Call 316-773-0900 for details.

2. Free doughnut at LaMar's: The doughnut shop will celebrate National Doughnut Day today by offering its visitors a free Ray's Original glazed doughnut. LaMar's has stores in Wichita at 10051 W. 21st St., 3301 E. Harry and 3130 N. Rock Road.

3. Free smoothie at Orange Julius: On June 19, the mall favorite will be offering 20-ounce samples of its new light smoothies, which come in three flavors: Strawberry Delight, Berry Pom Twilight and Tropical Sunlight. Customers must download a coupon from OrangeJulius.com to get the smoothie. Wichita has Orange Julius stores in Towne East Square and Towne West Square.

Latin brunch

The Waterfront location of Sabor Latin Bar & Grille (1720 N. Webb Road) recently started a Sunday brunch that includes several of the restaurant's popular Latin dishes as well as a prime rib carving station and a variety of desserts. Palette goes west

The Palette is moving a block west of its original location -- from 535 W. Douglas to 613-A W. Douglas -- and should be re-opened by today. The combo cafe/photography studio, owned by sisters Connie Dirks and Linda Grafton, will continue to serve a menu that specializes in homemade pastries, soups and sandwiches with a gourmet touch.
