QUICK BITES
Best ribs
Pig In Pig Out, the barbecue restaurant at 1003 E. 13th St., won first place in the ribs category at the 30th annual American Royal Barbecue Invitational Contest earlier this month in Kansas City.
Soup for you
A few weeks ago, we asked Wichita Eagle readers to vote on which of her soups chef Tanya Tandoc should serve when she opens a mobile restaurant during the Tallgrass Film Festival. The poll indicated that soup fans most wanted Tandoc's tomato bisque (32 percent of the vote) and her chicken curry and chicken tortilla (27 percent of the vote each). Tandoc says that she's decided to serve tomato bisque and chicken curry, both of which will be available with a roll for $5. She'll accept cash only and will serve in the Orpheum parking lot from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 23 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 25. (She's also considering offering her famous bread pudding.)
Malaysia Cafe II
Malaysia Cafe, the Asian restaurant that has developed a following at its 7777 E. 21st St. location, has opened a second restaurant in Wichita, this one at 601 S. Greenwich (316-686-8883.)
