International best-selling author Khaled Hosseini, who wrote “The Kite Runner” and “A Thousand Splendid Suns,” will speak June 12 at Wichita State University’s Hughes Metropolitan Complex.
WSU and Watermark Books & Cafe are hosting his visit, which will be at 7 p.m. at 5015 E. 29th St. North.
Tickets are available now on pre-order for $28.95 through Watermark, 4701 E. Douglas, by calling 316-682-1181 or online at www.watermarkbooks.com. The cost includes a copy of Hosseini’s new book, “And the Mountains Echoed,” and people will be able to line up at the event to have Hosseini sign their copies in the order of pre-orders made. People can pick up their tickets and books when the book is released May 21.
Hosseini and Ted Ayres, WSU vice president and general counsel, will hold a public discussion about the new book at the event, which will conclude with the book signing.
Hosseini, who was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, has introduced the United States to the culture of Afghanistan through his writing, said Beth Golay, Watermark’s marketing manager.
She said organizers are expecting to fill the Metroplex for the event, similar to when they hosted authors Greg Mortenson and “Pioneer Woman” Ree Drummond.
