“The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley” is the latest show at the Wichita Children’s Theatre & Dance Center, 201 Lulu. It features all the characters from the children’s book, which is focused on Stanley Lambchop, a 10-year-old with a travel bug. Show times are 6:30 p.m. Friday; noon Saturday; 10 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m., noon and 6:30 p.m Jan. 31; and noon on Feb. 1. Pizza is served half an hour before some shows. Tenor and a sackbut

A recital featuring tenor Brian Nedvin and trombonist Mike Hall is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Wiedemann Recital Hall, Wichita State University. Hall plays the sackbut, a Renaissance ancestor of the trombone. He and Nedvin will perform works spanning the 17th to 20th centuries. The program also will include a prelude concert by the group Nether Consort, who will perform medieval and Renaissance music on era-appropriate instruments. Tickets are $7. Friends choral concert

Joshua Habermann, a conductor from Dallas, will be the guest clinician at Friends University’s annual Choral Connections Concert, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Habermann works as conductor of the Dallas Symphony Chorus and is the music director of the Santa Fe Desert Chorale. The concert will showcase vocalists from area high schools and junior colleges as well as the Friends University Singing Quakers and Choir ensembles. Tickets are $16 for adults, $13 for seniors and students, and are available at friends.edu/finearts or by calling 316-295-5677.
