Carmen Bradford at Friends
Atlanta-based vocalist Carmen Bradford will be at Friends University on Monday performing with three of the university’s jazz ensembles. Bradford, who was discovered by Count Basie and performed as a featured vocalist with the Count Basie Orchestra, will appear at 7:30 p.m. in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium. Rock the Big Howse
Rock the Big Howse is the title of a charity concert scheduled for 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Murfin Stables, 14515 E. 13th St. The show will feature music by the Big Howse Band, made up of former members of Dewy and the Big Dogs, and will pay tribute to Bob Howse, a founding member of Dewy and the Big Dogs, who died earlier this year. Proceeds will benefit Senseney Music’s LINK program, which provides refurbished instruments to Wichita children in need. The Kansas Watercolor Society National Exhibition opens with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Wichita Center for the Arts, 9112 E. Central. Famous watercolorist Paul Jackson will select 85 watercolors from around the nation to be included in the exhibition, which features landscapes, still lifes and more. The show will remain on display through Jan. 5 and can be seen from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Admission is free. For more information, call 316-634-0593.
