Musical salute to veterans
At 7 p.m. Monday, Veterans Day, “A Salute to Veterans” musical extravaganza will be presented at First United Methodist Church, 330 N. Broadway. The event will honor veterans and benefit Kansas Honor Flight. The Wichita Chapter of the American Guild of Organists show will feature organists, choristers and sing-alongs with the audience. Tickets are $10 at the door; veterans and students will be admitted free, and donations will be accepted. A reception will follow.
The 80-voice alumni choir of Friends University will present its Singing Quaker Alumni Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 1958 N. Webb Road. Cecil Riney will direct the choir, and tenor Earnest Alexander will perform with the choir. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students, available only at the door and only by cash or check.

Native American stories about the stars and the night sky will be told around a campfire Friday night in the field to the west of the Lake Afton Public Observatory building. Jan Brooks of the Ojibwe tribe will begin the first story at 8 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. The event is free. The observatory is on MacArthur Road at West 247th Street in Lake Afton County Park.
