A ticket special, and ticket warning, on ‘Jersey Boys’

Theater League, the group that has brought the Tony Award-winning musical “Jersey Boys” to Wichita for a run that lasts through Sunday, is offering a ticket special — and a ticket warning.

The organization says that several customers have been misled or confused by third-party ticket sellers who scooped up tickets to the show in advance to resell them on the Internet. Some customers have come to the box office with insufficient information to pick up their tickets or have discovered that the tickets don’t actually exist.

Theater League urges would-be attendees to purchase tickets only from WichitaTix, the only official vendor, to avoid problems. Going through a third party is risky, said Jacob House, Century II’s sales and communications manager.

“More than likely you’ll pay more, and your tickets are not a guarantee,” he said.

Also, the organization is offering the same “student rush” discount tickets it offered during “The Lion King” last fall.

The tickets are $25 each and are available two hours prior to curtain at the WichitaTix box office in Century II’s Concert Hall. A valid student ID is required, and there’s a limit of two tickets per student, per ID. (The show is not recommended for children under 12 because of “authentic profane Jersey language,” sexual situations and violent mob themes.)

The student rush tickets are available at all remaining performances, which are tonight through Thursday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. They’re $40 to $130 at the WichitaTix box office in Century II, at wichitatix.com or at 316-219-4849.
