Canadian Brass to perform in Wichita

Canadian Brass in town
Arts on Broadway will begin its 2012-13 season with a performance from the internationally recognized brass group Canadian Brass at 7:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, 330 N. Broadway.
The famous quintet performs a variety of music styles, such as jazz, Renaissance and Baroque. It also focuses on educational outreach programs and will conduct a Masterclass for brass students at Wichita State University.
One of the founding members Chuck Daellenbach, has performed with the brass ensemble since the group was formed in 1970.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $25 and $40 and can be purchased at cbbyaob.eventbrite.com or by calling 316-684-1019. Student tickets cost $15 and must be purchased in person starting at 6:30 p.m.
Vocal jazz at Friends
The Friends University Jazz Vocal Ensemble, which is prepping for a performance at the Jazz Education Network Conference in Atlanta in January, will perform with the Jazz Vocal Ensemble II at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Riney Fine Arts Center’s Sebits Auditorium, 2100 W. University Ave. Tickets for Friday’s show are $9 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. They are available online at friends.edu or by phone at 316-295-5677.
‘Pinkalicious’ the musical
Once Upon a Time Productions will put on a musical version of the popular children’s book “Pinkalicious” this weekend at the Wichita Children’s Theatre and Dance Center, 201 S. Lulu. Shows will be at 6:30 p.m.
Friday, noon Saturday; 10 a.m., noon, and 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16; and noon November 17 at the theater. The story focuses on pink-loving PinkaliciousW, who eats pink cupcakes until they turn her completely pink.
Families are encouraged to wear pink to the show. Pizza will be served a half an hour before the 6:30 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday shows. Tickets cost $7.50 for pizza and show or $6 for the show only. For more information, call 316-262-2282.
