Single tickets for Wichita Symphony Orchestra go on sale Tuesday

Single tickets for the Wichita Symphony Orchestra’s 2012-2013 season go on sale at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The symphony’s lineup includes a Simon and Garfunkel retrospective, as well as classical, Pops and Blue Jeans concerts.

The season opens Oct. 6 with a concert featuring Broadway veterans Robert Evan, Capathia Jenkins, Doug LaBrecque and Christiane Noll accompanying symphony members as they play Broadways hits from “The Lion King,” “Wicked” and “Rent.”

Tickets are available for purchase online at or by calling the box office at 316-267-7658. They’re also available at the symphony box office in Century II, 225 W. Douglas. The box office is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Tickets also are available in person an hour before performances.

Concerts and their prices are as follows:

•  Classics concerts single tickets: $49, $39, $32, $29, $24 and $17.

Oct. 13 and 14: “Dances of Galanta,” Kodaly; Piano Concerto No. 1, Mendelssohn; Symphony No. 5, Tchaikovsky

Oct. 27 and 28: “Maskarade” Overture, Nielsen; Violin Concerto, Tchaikovsky; Symphony No. 2, Sibelius

Nov. 17 and 18: Symphony No. 90, Haydn; “Carmina Burana,” Orff, Wichita Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Wichita Children’s Chorus

Jan. 12 and 13: “Italian in Algiers” Overture, Rossini; Guitar Concerto, Vivaldi; “Concierto de Aranjuez,” Rodrigo; Symphony No. 4, “Italian,” Mendelssohn

Jan. 26 and 27: “Charlie Chaplin at the Symphony” Popular Classics Concert with Chaplin expert and mime Dan Kamin

Feb. 16 and 17: Symphonic Picture from “Porgy and Bess,” “Rhapsody in Blue,” “I Got Rhythm,” Gershwin; Symphonic Dances from “West Side Story,” Bernstein

March 9 and 10: Oboe Concerto, Mozart; Symphony No. 4, Mahler

April 6 and 7: “Lohengrin” Prelude, Act III, Wagner; Piano Concerto No. 5, “The Emperor,” Beethoven; Symphony No. 3, Copland

•  Feb. 28 Texas Tenors single tickets: $75, $65, $50, $45, $25.
•  Pops single tickets: $55, $40, $30, $25, $18, $12.
