People who like art, driving, and the majesty of the Flint Hills in the summertime might want to consider a Sunday day trip to Marion, about an hour northeast of Wichita, for its Art and Music Stroll. Here's what you need to know.
1. The art: About 12 businesses along Marion's Main street will participate in the crawl. Each one will feature artists displaying, selling and demonstrating oils, acrylics, watercolors, colored pencils, photography, sculpture, pottery and more. The event will include 25 artists.
2. The music: Each business also will have musicians on site. Fiddlers, guitarists and vocalists will provide everything from Irish ballads to rock and roll, and the gazebo on Main Street will have a live band.
3. The rest: Refreshments also will be served. Hours for the crawl are 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The event is being organized and put on by Gallery 101 of the Flint Hills. For more information, call 620-382-7501.
