Special activities and admission rates for Father’s Day

Fun for Father’s Day

Several local venues are offering specials activities and admission rates for families on Father’s Day, which is Sunday. Among them:

1. Botanica, 701 Amidon: The garden is offering free admission to everyone Sunday during its first Father’s Day Kite Festival, which is from 1 to 5 p.m. It will feature an 80-foot-long megakite, professional kite fliers, hot-air balloons, arts and crafts, face painters, a balloon artist, food trucks and music. Attendees can bring their own kites, and kites also will be for sale. For more information, call 316-264-0448.

2. Museum of World Treasures, 835 E. First St.: From noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, dads will be admitted free with a paid child admission, either youth or adult. Regular admission is $6.95 for ages 4-12, $7.95 for seniors are $8.95 for adults. For more information, call 316-263-1311.

3. Father's Day at Wichita Toy Train Club and Museum, 130 S. Laura: Admission is free for dads from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Regular adult admission is $5, free for 12 and under. Visitors can learn to run toy trains or bring their own sets to run for fun.

Walk with Wildlife at Great Plains Nature Center

The 30th annual Walk With Wildlife event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Great Plain Nature Center’s Chisholm Creek Park, 6232 E. 29th St. N. The event will feature more than 50 species of wildlife that visitors can get close to, wildlife videos and more. Admission is $2 a person.
