Lots of concerts coming up
Several area venues have announced big-name concerts during the past few weeks. Tickets to a May 24 Tony Bennett concert at Salina’s Stiefel Theatre go on sale at 9 a.m. Friday. The Stiefel also added an Aug. 24 concert featuring classic rockers Styx. Kansas Star Arena at Mulvane’s Kansas Star Casino recently added a double bill of 1980s goodness: Pat Benatar and Rick Springfield will both perform at a July 17 show there. The Orpheum recently added shows by country legend Don Williams, who will perform on June 21, and comedian Paula Poundstone, whose show will be on June 28. Roadkill Ghost Choir at Abode
Roadkill Ghost Choir, a six-piece indie folk-rock band from Florida, will perform along with opening act New Madrid starting at 9 p.m. Wednesday at Abode Venue, 1330 E. Douglas. Tickets to the show are $8 at http://naymlis.ticketleap.com/rgc/ or $10 at the door.
Indie rock at Barleycorn’s
Nashville-based indie rock band Daniel Ellsworth & The Great Lakes will bring its tour to downtown bar John Barleycorn’s on Tuesday night. The show will feature songs from the band’s new album “Kid Tiger.” The group is best known for its song “Passenger,” which was featured on a 2012 episode of “Grey’s Anatomy.” Tickets to the show are $7 at the door. The show is for ages 21 and over.
