Weekend events: St. Patrick’s Parade; circus in town

St. Patrick’s Parade

The annual St. Patrick’s Parade in Delano takes place at noon Saturday along Douglas from McLean to Walnut. The day begins with a breakfast fundraiser at the Downtown Senior Center, 200 S. Walnut. The menu includes biscuits and gravy, sausage and hashbrowns. Cost is $6 (call 316-267-0197 to RSVP). A pre-parade party starts at 9 a.m. at the Shamrock Lounge, 1724 W. Douglas. Circus Spectacular

George Carden Circus International presents “Circus Spectacular” this weekend at the Kansas Star Arena, 777 Kansas Star Dr. in Mulvane. Showtimes are: 7:30 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. An hour before each show, a pre-party is held where the public will be able to ride an elephant or pony, enjoy face painting and meet the circus stars. Children’s Farm Festival

The Sedgwick County Zoo, 5555 Zoo Blvd., is preparing for spring by having a “Shearing of the Sheep” event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the American Barn. Visitors will get to feel the wool, and knitters and spinners will demonstrate how it can be turned into clothing.
