Bands’ benefit concert in Valley Center

Several area bands are uniting for a concert to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The show, organized by Triple Sin Productions; Steve Headley of the band Nick McEwen and The 33; and Ashley Wiederstein of the Sinful Sisters, starts at 1 p.m. Saturday and continues all day at Spirits Pub, 231 E Main St., in Valley Center.

Bands include Faith Lugalia, Phoenix, Linnaberry Wine, The Gabriel Project, Nick McEwen and The 33, Jordan Dee Minnis, Beneath the Burning Sun, The Calm, Morgan Wilk and MP3, Dirty Empire, The New Imperialism and Cryout.

Drawings for prizes will take place between sets. Prizes include gift certificates, CDs, memorabilia and more.

All ages will be admitted until 9 p.m. (21 to enter after that). Cover is $5 for adults and $3 for kids, with all proceeds going to the hospital.

Twilight tour at Scenic Landscapes

Scenic Landscapes will have its annual twilight tour from dusk to midnight Friday and Saturday. People can sit around the campfire and in various garden areas that will be alight throughout five acres of the nursery at 5911 W. Maple. A movie will be shown in the amphitheater at dusk both nights, and live music will include the Jukes with Clif Major performing from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday. Free refreshments will include hot dogs, marshmallows, hot apple cider and popcorn. Admission is free. For more information, call 316-942-4861.

Cigar event benefits Humane Society

Humidor Cigars and Lounge, 8558 W. 21st St., is hosting the River City Cigar Circus from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $100, available on location, and a portion of proceeds benefit the Kansas Humane Society. The event will include food, soft drinks and deals on cigars, including at least 15 free cigars per attendee. There also will be live music, a cash bar, silent auction and more than 15 cigar distributors present.

Attendees must be 21 and older. Tickets are for sale from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 316-440-4890.

Capitol Steps at Fox Theatre

The Capitol Steps, a performance group that has been satirizing politicians and current events for more than 30 years, will perform as the opening show for the Hutchinson Fox Theatre’s Marquee Magic series. The show is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at 18 E. First Ave. in Hutchinson. The group began as a group of Senate staffers planning entertainment for a Christmas party in 1981. Their songs include those about the GOP Primary, the presidential race and bipartisan satire. In addition to performances nationwide, they perform every weekend in Washington, D.C. Tickets cost $40, $37 and $35, available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the box office or by phone at 620-663-1981.
