We still have a week before we’ll be counting down the clock to 2012, but party planning is in the works, and many events are taking reservations. Here’s our guide to New Year’s Eve fun:
Section 37 and B98-FM New Year’s Eve Party
Drury Plaza Broadview, 400 W. Douglas, is hosting the Southern rock band Rain in its first New Year’s party since undertaking a major remodeling of the hotel.
“Rain played a sellout show right before the Drury closed in 2009,” Rain publicist David Gear said. “Now they have been invited back to such a grand beautiful setting.”
Gear said he anticipates the band and location will bring big crowds. The band plays at 9 p.m. Dec. 31.
The party gets started at 7 p.m. with a plated dinner, followed by dancing and a champagne toast at midnight. Appearances will also be made by Brett Harris and Tracy Cassidy of B98-FM.
Packages start at $48. Some include dinner, overnight stay at the hotel and breakfast. Call 316-634-2400 for reservations and visit www.b98fm.com for more information.
Crown Uptown party
The Crown Uptown’s new owners are hosting a New Year’s party with new and old traditions starting at 6 p.m. Dec. 31.
Denny Dusek and his band Touch of Class will be playing at the Crown, 3207 E. Douglas, for the 30th year. He will be joined on stage by comedian Bucky Walters and singer Cindy Summers, known for her Patsy Cline renditions.
There also will be an all-you-can-eat buffet, cash bar, dancing, party favors, champagne toast at midnight and keepsake souvenir champagne glasses, Crown owner Ray Gans said.
“We want to make it an evening for those 16 and older to let loose, have fun , maybe dance and enjoy their evening,” he said.
Tickets are $49.95. For reservations, call 316-612-7696.
