Oprah Winfrey's giddy audience of 300 arrived in Australia from the U.S. on Tuesday to begin enjoying the talk show queen's ultimate giveaway — an eight-day journey across the land Down Under.
Winfrey kicked off her 25th and final season of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in September by surprising her fans with what she's billed as the trip of a lifetime.
The hand-picked audience was made up of some of the program's most loyal viewers over the years.
The itinerary for "Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure" had been kept a secret, with audience members still in the dark upon their arrival in Sydney.
Never miss a local story.
But travel details finally released by Australia's tourism minister reveal a sweeping adventure, with trips to each of the country's eight states and territories.
The audience, which ranges in age from 18 to 75, will be split into smaller groups and sent off to explore the Great Barrier Reef, the rain forests of northern Oz, and the famous red monolith called Uluru, in the remote Outback.
They will also tour the country's wine regions, visit a historic prison colony in the island state of Tasmania, and check out the wildlife on Kangaroo Island.
Winfrey was traveling separately by private jet and expected to land later Tuesday or today (that, too, was being kept secret.)
Winfrey will film two episodes at the Sydney Opera House and a third episode at a yet-to-be disclosed location, rumored to be somewhere in the Outback.
The shows are scheduled to air in January.
Underwood a sure bet
When it comes to Las Vegas, Carrie Underwood is a sure bet.
Underwood won her second country music artist of the year award of 2010 in Sin City on Monday night.
She earned the top award at the inaugural American Country Awards about eight months after she won the top honor at the Academy of Country Music Awards in April.
In both cases, fans determined the top winner.
And when it comes to fan support, Underwood has no match. Her fans vote early and often, a holdover from her time as "American Idol" champion.
She won six awards at the ACAs, which like the ACMs are held at the MGM Grand.
Lady Antebellum took home four Fender Stratocasters given as trophies, and Easton Corbin finished with three wins.
