The monthly art gallery crawl known as Final Friday is tonight. Here's a look at three of more than three dozen shows that will be part of the crawl:
1) Opening reception for a new group exhibition, " Colorblind," at Bob Schwan Studios, 111 S. Ellis St. A diverse group of artists will show works that emphasize form, content and concept, leaving color for another day. Reception from 6 to 10 p.m.
2) Kansas wildlife photographer Bill Fales presents " Coastal Plains Images" from 5 to 7 p.m. at Exploration Place, 300 N. McLean Blvd. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Fales moved to Kansas after visiting the state on his travels and falling in love with the open plains and big skies. His photographs capture nature's patterns and textures, and the way light plays across the prairies and Flint Hills.
3) Three artists will be displaying their works from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at CityArts, 334 N. Mead, in Old Town Square. Expressive/representational prints and paintings by Jack Wilson will be in the main gallery. The first floor hallway gallery will feature oil paintings by Rob Compton. And the second-floor boardroom gallery will feature "Reflexions of Wichita," digitally manipulated photographs of Wichita landmarks by Stan Shook.
Never miss a local story.
This is the last weekend to check out the annual Student/Faculty Exhibition at Wichita Center for the Arts, 9112 E. Central. The show closes Sunday. Gallery hours are 1 to 5 p.m. today through Sunday. Admission is free.
