The Wichita Blues Society will put on the eighth annual Guitar Showdown starting at 4 p.m. Sunday at Loft 150. The event — which is actually an exhibition rather than a competition — will feature musicians such as Donnie Baker, Jeff Corbett, Clif Major and Justin Murray. It always ends with a giant jam session. Doors open at 3 p.m., and admission is $5 for Wichita Blues Society members and $7 for nonmembers. For more information, call Randy Crump at 316-218-7823.
The Humidor Cigars & Lounge is a new hangout for cigar lovers with locations on the east and west sides of town. The lounges, associated with ABC liquor stores, are at 2221 N. Woodlawn (316-688-0112) and 8558 W. 21st St. (316-440-4890). Though neither serves alcohol, both offer a large selection of cigars plus comfortable seating, television, Wi-Fi and roasted coffee. To enter, patrons must have a day membership that requires them to buy $10 of cigars or an annual membership, which is $295 and includes cigar discounts and a free cigar each month. Those interested are welcome to take a free tour of either location, owners said.
