A reminder for the drag racers from the golden age of the sport: If you haven’t got your tickets to the Old Drag Racers 50th Reunion get-together on Sept. 14, the clock is running.

If you raced at the old M-N drag strip on Ridge Road back in the day and would like to get back in touch with some of your old buddies and competitors, you need to get in touch with Jon Lemon at 316-708-4320 soon. No one will be admitted without a pre-paid ticket and, yes, there is a charge for the barbeque meal. Commemorative T-shirts will also be available.

There is another event you may want to take in that weekend, on Sept. 15. It is a “Friend in Need” hot rod/bike/truck benefit cruise-in/hot dog feed to help raise funds for the medical expenses of William Young, who suffered a stroke during heart surgery. The event will be held at Paula’s Bar & Grill, K42 and Maize Road, from 1-5 p.m.
