Last week we featured the Bob Tyler/Patterson Racing COPO Camaro, which was being prepped to set an NHRA national record in CC/SA. A MoPar had just lowered the record to 9.44 seconds back east shortly before the COPO launched its assault at the SRCA drag strip at Great Bend.
Well, the Kansas Camaro made short work of that record, ripping off and backing up a pass of 9.25 seconds at more than 143 mph last Saturday. Congratulations to the whole crew, who will be back in action this weekend at Great Bend for an NHRA Division 5 points race.
In another bit of breaking news, Dennis Gage, host of the popular TV show "My Classic Car," will be in Wichita filming an episode at this year’s Black Top Nationals.
"He will be here for all three days (Aug. 23-25)," said Carl Raines, executive director of BTN. "We’re pretty excited about it. This will get us some good national exposure," he said.
Raines also said show organizers have lined up a 1929 Model A Ford that will be given away to one showgoer during this summer’s event.
