We understand this is not only your car, but your first car. What do you have here?
It's a 1964 Falcon Futura hardtop. My dad and I went together and bought it. We looked for a year and a half and all we could find was either junk or a $50,000 show car.
Where did you find it — and give us a little of the history of this car's journey.
Last August, we found it in Louisiana on eBay. We met the guy in Little Rock and made the deal there. We understand it originally came from New York state. The body and interior were already finished. It had black police lights on the front fenders... I don't think there was a police version of the Futura.
So were you specifically looking for a Falcon?
Yeah, I wanted a Falcon because it was the car that started the Mustang. I think a lot of people don't know that.
What have you done to it so far and what upgrades do you have planned?
We had Mike Yoder at Hutchinson put a Mustang II front suspension and disc brakes on it. We put a CVF Racing billet pulley system on it and replaced the Carter carb that came on the 289 with a 4-barrel Holley. It has air shocks on the rear end and we want to do a coil-over conversion on it next year. For now, it's my daily driver, but we eventually would like to drag race it a little.
