The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City had a record year in fiscal 2009, with operating revenue up 12 percent, to $750 million.

Inpatient volume was up more than 8 percent over 2008 and outpatient visits were up 12.8 percent, according to audited financial statements provided to the KU Hospital's Authority Board. Uncompensated care leveled somewhat at $33.4 million in the fiscal year that ended June 30.

The audited report noted $54 million in capital expenditures, with the largest outlays for the new patient care units, a new linear accelerator in radiation oncology and the new electronic medical records system.

The hospital is affiliated with the University of Kansas Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health.
