The U.S. Senate on Tuesday passed a bill that would prevent those convicted of capital murder from being buried in military cemeteries.
The bill, co-sponsored by Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kansas, was drafted after lawmakers realized that convicted serial killer Dennis Rader, who has confessed to 10 murders, could be eligible for a military burial.
Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, is working on similar legislation in the House.
