Attorney general files lien on BTK-home proceeds

The state attorney general's office has filed a lien on Dennis Rader's Park City home.

The only purpose of the move is to make sure that Rader's share of money from the home's sale would go to pay restitution to his victims or their families, attorney general's spokesman Whitney Watson said Tuesday.

Rader's home sold at auction Monday for $90,000. The lien applies only to Rader's share of the proceeds, not his wife's, Watson said.

Separately, a judge has ruled that sale proceeds go to the Sedgwick County court clerk; the court will determine whether the money will be used to settle wrongful-death lawsuits filed against Rader by the victims' families.
