How to use this database: Enter the names of any two intersecting streets in alphabetical order to get a list of accidents occurring at that intersection from 2004 through 2008.

You can search by the name of any city in Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties, or enter the name of a single street to get a list of intersection accidents occurring on that street. Information listed in the accident details include factors that investigators cited as contributing causes for the accident. You also can search based on the number of injuries or fatalities.

Accidents occurring on numbered streets such as Second, Third or Ninth are listed under 2nd, 3rd or 9th in the data. Use the following protocol when searching for highways: I235 for Interstate 235, K15 for K-15, and US54 for U.S. 54. Accidents on U.S. 54 in Sedgwick County are listed under Kellogg.

Where we got the data: The data, which is compiled by the Kansas Department of Transportation, include information from 29,582 accidents that occurred in Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties during the five-year period.
