With 5-1 loss to Yankees, Royals enter first losing streak of season

For two months, the Royals denied the existence of losing streaks, ceasing every temporary, two-game skid with another onslaught of winning. They bent to reality on Tuesday night in the Bronx, dropping their third consecutive game for the first time in 2015, this one a 5-1 loss to the New York Yankees. Activated from the disabled list on Tuesday afternoon, Kansas City starter Jason Vargas allowed two runs in four innings. Joe Blanton, his replacement, gave up three in the fifth.

A brown kitty named Oakie with bright orange eyes is in need of a home after being rescued from high in a tree early Sunday morning. The Wichita Animal Action League, a local animal rescue group, got Oakie out of the tree using a plastic laundry basket – and a little bit of teamwork.
