Why do some teams seem to be wearing throwback uniforms every game this year in the NFL?

To honor the 50th year of what was then the American Football League, the charter members of that league are donning throwbacks each time they play another charter member.

Games between any of these eight squads involve the nostalgic, if not always historically accurate, throwback uniforms: Buffalo, Denver, Kansas City, New England, New York Jets, Oakland, San Diego and Tennessee.

This means every intradivisional game in the AFC West and most in the AFC East have the funky duds.

The result is similar to the NFL's 75th anniversary season in 1994, when every team wore throwbacks at least twice in the season, with some deciding to go for even more times.

The 49ers liked their throwbacks so much, they wore them in the Super Bowl, defeating the Chargers in a blowout.

While the concept of throwbacks has been around for some time, this is the first time some teams have had both home and away alternate uniforms.

As long as the Broncos keep winning, their fans aren't likely to complain about their brown uniforms, but every loss with the state of Texas on the Chiefs' helmets seems to anger Kansas City fans more.
