The funeral for Goddard tennis coach John Markham will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Central Community Church in Wichita. Markham died Thursday after having liver cancer for more than two years.

Goddard Middle School, where Markham taught, will be closed on Monday so staff and students may attend the funeral.

A memorial fund has been set up at Capitol Federal Savings. Send donations in care of John Markham Memorial Fund at Capitol Federal Savings, 10404 W. Central, Wichita, 67212.

* Wichita State sophomores Lutfiana Budiharto and Delia Damaschin advanced at the Wilson/ITA Central Regional in Norman. Budiharto defeated Missouri's Mallory Weber 7-6 (8), 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals. Damaschin defeated Minnesota's Peta Forsyth 6-3, 6-0 to move on in the consolation bracket.

* The Wichita State men's team advanced two players in the singles' draw at the Wilson/ITA Central Regional in Tulsa. Junior Vlad Marinescu defeated Arkansas' Taylor King, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (5). Sophomore David Cavalcanti advanced by defeating St. Louis' Ken Nordheim 6-4, 6-4.

GOLF

Rickie Fowler, a 20-year-old former Oklahoma State standout in his second tournament since turning pro, shared the lead with Englishman Greg Owen halfway through the Frys.com Open in Scottsdale, Ariz. Both shot 6-under 64s in the second round in ideal conditions on the Raptor Course at Grayhawk Golf Club to reach 11-under 129. Justin Leonard also shot a 64 and was one behind at 10 under. First-round leader Nick O'Hern (68) and Patrick Moore (65) were 9 under in the third stop of the PGA Tour's Fall Series.

* Champions Tour rookies Keith Clearwater and Russ Cochran and shot 5-under 66s to share the first-round lead in the AT&T Championship at San Antonio. Tom Kite, looking for his first home-state win as a professional, was a stroke back along with fellow Texan Ben Crenshaw, Mark O'Meara and Andy Bean.

* Matt Every shot a course-record 9-under 63 to take a one-stroke lead in the season-ending Nationwide Tour Championship at Charleston, S.C. Every, 49th on the money list, needs to finish solo third or higher to possibly move into the final top 25 — the cutoff for 2010 PGA Tour cards. The 25-year-old former University of Florida player had an 11-under 133 total on the Daniel Island Club's Ralston Creek Course. He had 10 birdies and a bogey to break the course record of 64 set Thursday by money leader Michael Sim.

* Australia's Robert Allenby shot a 5-under 66 for a share of the lead with Germany's Martin Kaymer in the suspended second round of the Castello Masters Costa Azahar in Castellon, Spain.

BASKETBALL

The NBA and its referees union have reached agreement on a two-year contract, ending a lockout of more than a month. The officials approved the deal that was reached earlier this week in a vote Friday night. No details of the vote were provided, nor were terms of the agreement. The referees will have a training camp this weekend and be ready when the regular season starts Tuesday. The league had been using replacement officials during exhibition play.
