Watch local government meetings online
Each Monday, The Eagle highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.
For a complete list of You Oughta Know columns, go to www.kansas.com/oughta.
The record: Videos of Wichita City Council and Sedgwick County Board of Commissioners meetings.
Why you'd want them: To watch a meeting you missed; to verify a vote or discussion; to learn more about an issue in which you are interested.
Where you get the records: For City Council video, go to www.wichita.gov. Click on the "City Council" link in the "City Offices" menu, then on the "View City Council Meetings on Demand" link. For county commission video, go to www.sedgwickcounty.org. Click on the "e-video" link on the right side of the home page.
How much it will cost: The videos are free.
