Discount card can save you cash on prescriptions

Each Monday, The Eagle highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives. For recent You Oughta Know columns, go to www.kansas.com/oughta.

The record: Information about the Sedgwick County Prescription Discount Card and a list of pharmacies that participate. The cards are available to all county residents, even if they have insurance.

Why you'd want the information: To learn more about the program and whether it could help you save money. You also can find out where to get the card.

Where you get the records: From the county's Web site, www.sedgwickcounty.org. Scroll about halfway down the home page for the information. How much it will cost: The information is free. If you do not have access to the Internet, information also is available at Catholic Charities, the Sedgwick County Health Department, the county's Division of Human Services, SRS and the United Way of the Plains. Those are also locations where you can get the card.
