Hunt, 36, joined The Eagle on Monday after serving as Commerce Bank's regional human resources manager for the past three years. In that role, she worked with bank employees in Wichita, El Dorado, Garden City, Hays and Hutchinson.
"This is definitely a new challenge in an industry that's going through a lot of changes," said Hunt, a Wichita State graduate who lives in Goddard with her husband, Aaron, and two daughters. "The opportunity to work with a group that's making positive changes, I view that as an exciting opportunity."
As part of The Eagle's senior leadership team, Hunt will oversee employee relations and communications, training and development, recruitment, salary administration, policies and compliance.
"Some of the tactical items, laws and policies carry forward from my previous jobs," said Hunt, who also served as HR manager for Sheplers for five years. "Some of the strategic issues will be new."
Growing up an Eagle reader, Hunt has witnessed the newspaper's shift to a greater multimedia presence. Fundamentally, however, Hunt sees stability in her new employer.
"It's such a large part of the Wichita community as a whole," Hunt said. "It touches so many people, and that's neat to be a part of."
