Online calculator: What tax rebate could you get?


The plan offers a rebate of $600 for individuals and $1,200 for couples — discounted if you paid less than that in tax in 2007, down to a minimum of $300 per taxpayer. The rebate is increased by $300 per child. For individuals earning more than $75,000 and couples earning more than $150,000, the rebate is discounted and eventually phased out. If you earned less than $3,000, you'll get nothing.

   

When will you get yours?

The IRS has accelerated the schedule for $110 billion in economic stimulus payments that taxpayers will receive this year.

Payments started going out electronically Monday. They had been set to start this Friday.

The rebate schedule is based on the last two digits of taxpayers' Social Security numbers, as follows:

For direct deposit

00 to 20: You should receive your payment by Friday, May 2.

21 to 75: By May 9.

76 to 99: By May 16.

Paper checks

00 to 09: You should get a check by May 16.

10 to 18: By May 23.

19 to 25: By May 30.

26 to 38: By June 6.

39 to 51: By June 13.

52 to 63: By June 20.

64 to 75: By June 27.

76 to 87: By July 4.

88 to 99: By July 11.
