Four vvents that every high school sports fan should know about this week. Check the Eagle and Kansas.com for coverage of these events and others.
Monday
Softball: Maize vs. Bishop Carroll, 5 p.m. doubleheader, Two Rivers Youth Club, 1700 N. Ridge Road.
Why: A matchup with two of the better softball teams in the area. It's the beginning of a tough week for Maize, which will play Northwest on Friday.
Tuesday
Soccer: Kapaun Mount Carmel at Northwest, 7 p.m., Northwest High School, 1220 N. Tyler Road.
Why: Northwest is undefeated in the City League, but with only one loss Kapaun has its own City League title dreams.
Friday
Track: City League Championship at Heights, 4 p.m., 5301 N. Hillside Street.
Why: The City League's top track and field athletes vie for supremacy as they prepare for the regional and state meets later this month.
Friday-Saturday
Tennis: Three of the four state tournaments will be held in the Wichita area. Class 6A will be at Goddard's Eisenhower Middle School. Class 5A at will play at Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center. Class 3-2-1A is set for Wichita State.
Why: It's the ultimate prize -- the chance to play for a championship.
