Andover Central did just what it needed to on Thursday night to advance to the Class 4A playoffs, beating Wichita Trinity 36-14 at Cessna Stadium.

NEWTON — The Newton boys soccer team survived a slow start, defeating Kapaun Mount Carmel 3-2 in overtime in a Class 5A regional final.

Jake Hattabaugh ran for 129 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries as Andale cruised to a rout of visiting Nickerson to improve to 9-0 and win the Class 4A-District 15 title.

Since Andover Central started its football program in 2002, coach Tom Audley's teams have advanced to the playoffs each season. In that span, the Jaguars are 58-16 with two one-loss seasons and two two-loss seasons.
