The first time I went afield with legendary herpetologist Joe Collins, the setting did little for my apprehension.
Michael is a sixth-generation Kansan who has been The Eagle's outdoors writer/photographer since 2000. Prior to that he spent 19 years as a full-time freelance outdoors writer for Outdoor Life, the Wall Street Journal and other publications. Off the job he enjoys the same things he does on the job -- hunting, fly-fishing, birding and photography. Wild game cooking and dog training are also longtime passions.
