Why are we at war in Afghanistan? After Sept. 11, yes, we had reason, but the quarry got away. Our soldiers are dying to support a government that produces the world's opium supply. Now it's all about the money.

Asking President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan to tackle corruption in his government is like asking the fox to keep an eye on the henhouse.

If you want to see the future of American health care, visit your local driver's license or car tag office. If not convinced, make a trip to the office of your local cell phone provider on any Friday or Saturday. Things will be worse than you see at the overcrowded primate section of any zoo.

My spouse and I are retirees with minimal medical expenses, yet our "gap" policy premiums have increased by 12 percent for 2010. If that continues, our premiums would double in six years. Look forward to that, boomers, if you don't think something needs to be done about health care.

Now that we have irrefutable evidence that global warming is a complete fraud, can we go ahead and build that power plant we need?

If the Midwest becomes a dust bowl because of global warming, I won't have to move to Arizona.

This is for the thief who broke the window of our Jeep: If you needed directions, you should have asked. It wasn't bad enough you took the GPS, but to take the $3.46 from the ashtray?

If you've got an extra Christmas card this year, send it to a nursing home or hospital addressed to "Any Resident." I'm sure the staff knows someone who won't have visitors this holiday season.
