Opinion Line Extra (Nov. 6)

President Obama said jobs are now going to be his overriding focus. Too bad he did not have the same focus when the stimulus package was passed. If it had focused on jobs instead of every Democratic wish from the past 20 years, we might actually be getting recovery in the job sector.

Nobody had even heard of that aired Sarah Palin 18 months ago, but now she almost runs the Republican Party. She should be plunked down in a pail of honey and then turned loose in the Alaskan woods.

Government spending is way out of control as the government tries to take over the health care industry. Do not kid yourself into thinking that there won't be rationing.

Regarding the lame argument that those against socialized medicine should give up Medicare: Seniors today paid Medicare premiums for 35 to 50 years before ever claiming a dime of benefits. It is bought and paid for by a lifetime of service, and they just want what they paid for.

Of course Fox News is biased to the right, just like MSNBC is biased to the left. What I can't stand is how hypocritical the left is on this.

The fiscal impact of gambling is quite apparent in Arkansas City. Wichita gamblers have turned this border city into a vibrant, thriving metropolis.

Why does road construction in Wichita take twice as long as road construction in any other place in the universe?

Even after the flooding in September 2008, I still see people dumping grass clippings and blowing leaves into the Westlink drainage ditch. Didn't they learn a lesson? Isn't this against a city ordinance?
