Intruder beats sleeping man with big stick

Police are looking for an intruder who awoke the resident Tuesday morning by hitting him with a big stick in Wichita.

The 54-year-old man told police he was asleep at his house in the 2400 block of East 22nd North, near 21st and Grove, when a stranger began hitting him at about 6 a.m. The victim began to defend himself and the ensuing fight ended up in the front yard before the attacker left the area on foot, Lt. Dan East said.

The victim was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of cuts and abrasions on his head and legs.
